Namaste, Reader.
One of the most overlooked regulation tools isn’t a pose, a plan, or the “right” words.
It’s your presence — and the way you speak.
Tone, pace, volume, and word choice communicate safety (or stress) long before anyone processes the meaning of what you’re saying.
This matters whether you’re:
- Teaching yoga
- Supporting a child or family member
- Leading a group
- Or simply trying to communicate with more care
Here’s something to try this week:
A gentle communication practice:
- Slow your speech by about 10%
- Leave a full breath of silence after an important sentence
- Use invitational language when possible
(“You might try…” instead of “You should…”)
Notice what shifts — not just in others, but in you.
Many people tell me they struggle because they:
- Don’t know what to say
- Worry about saying the wrong thing
- Feel pressure to “get it right”
That’s exactly why I created
